A new Zithromax Z-Pak, made of Z-Pak, has been approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in the treatment of Z-Pak-related respiratory tract infections in adults and children. Zithromax, also known as Azithromycin, is used to treat infections caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Zithromax works by interfering with the growth and replication of HIV-infected cells. Zithromax is one of the most commonly used antibiotics in the U. S., with a recommended starting dose of 0.5 mg/kg/day for adults and 2.5 mg/kg/day for children. Zithromax is taken in tablet form and it is taken twice daily. The Z-Pak, also known as Azithromycin, is used for the treatment of Z-Pak-related respiratory tract infections in adults and children. The Z-Pak is an antibiotic that helps clear and destroy the infection. Z-Pak is manufactured by Pharmacia (a division of Pharmacia Group) in the strengths of 250, 500, and 500 mg. Zithromax is an antibiotic medicine used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria. This antibiotic belongs to a group of medicines known as azithromycin or macrolides.
Zithromax is also used to treat a wide range of viral infections such as the common cold, flu, rickettsia, herpes simplex virus and herpes zoster.
Zithromax may be used for other infections as determined by your doctor. Zithromax may be used only when prescribed by your doctor.
Zithromax is not recommended for use in children.
Zithromax is only available as a tablet and liquid form. It should not be taken more than once in a 24-hour period.
Zithromax is not recommended for use in children under the age of 18.
Take one tablet with a glass of water as needed (at least one hour before or two hours after any other medication) or as directed by your doctor. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Do not crush or chew the tablets. The medicine will not affect the flavour of Zithromax or make it taste bitter.
The usual dose is 50 mg taken 1 to 2 hours before Zithromax treatment. The dose may be increased to a maximum recommended dose of 100 mg or decreased to 25 mg.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablet.
The most common side effects with Zithromax are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain or diarrhoea. These are usually mild and usually disappear after a few days or even less of treatment. However, it is important to note that Zithromax may cause some side effects.
Zithromax has been shown to cause some side effects. Talk to your health care provider if these mild reactions do not go away within a few days.

Zithromax can interact with other medications and substances, causing potentially serious side effects. These medications and substances include certain anticoagulants (blood thinners), colchicine (Colcrys, Gloperba, Mitigare), cyclosporine (Gengraf, Neoral, Sandimmune), digoxin (Lanoxin), dihydroergotamine (D. H. E. 45, Migranal, Trudhesa); ergotamine (Ergomar, in Migergot), medications for irregular heartbeat such as amiodarone (Nexterone, Pacerone), dofetilide (Tikosyn), procainamide, quinidine, and sotalol (Betapace, Sorine, Sotylize), nelfinavir (Viracept), and phenytoin (Dilantin, Phenytek).
Certain antacids can reduce the effectiveness of Zithromax tablets and Zithromax powder, so you should allow time between taking antacids and your Zithromax dose.
In addition, let your doctor know if you are pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant before starting treatment with this medication.
